- CARDIFF THERAPY FOR COUPLES, INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES -

CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS & FAMILIES

Olwen worked with children, adolescents and families within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in the NHS for over 15 years. She has extensive experience of working with a wide variety of mental health issues.

Olwen has worked with Children’s Services, Safeguarding and Fostering Teams in Cardiff and London providing therapy and consultation within contexts of high distress and complexity. There are occasions when parents or families want to talk about problems which are not necessarily of a mental health nature but are still creating tensions. This could include exploring school difficulties, parenting, domestic or social issues.

Family Therapy is often useful when working with families who wish to consider different ways of relating to each other, explore new ideas and possibilities, improve communication or deal more effectively with any problems they may be experiencing.

Olwen is a remarkably thoughtful and insightful therapist. Families have been so complimentary about the support she has given them. She is able to engage and communicate with young people who have significant emotional health difficulties and her manner with them and their families is inspiring and a real delight. Her ability to use different therapeutic techniques based on the needs of the person in front of her, while also taking into consideration the latest evidence base, is wonderful to witness. I always enjoy conversations with Olwen about families and young people, especially when there are complex issues which require thought as to the best approach to take in order to help in any particular set of circumstances.
